In the middle of all the the St. Antonio festival, blogging, taking care of the family, cooking, dogs, cat and everything else in between, I still found some time to make some earrings. First I textured the copper squares with my favorite hammer. I filed down the pointed end of one of my husbands old hammers to get this texture, he has quite a few, I didn't think he would miss it. Buying textured hammers can get very expensive, if you have old tools on hand you can turn them in to tools for making different textures, old hammers or screw drivers are great. Will try to make some more post about this in the future, so much going on right now, and next week I have to go back to work at the pool, oh mio dio. Anyways, after I textured the copper, I fused the sterling silver heart on, then domed it. As always I love to give copper a great patina, the color comes out so warm, dark and earthly, it also brings out the texture on the earrings. I made these earrings with Valentines Day in mind, it is just around the corner and this would be a perfect gift for the one you love.
