The "Brooch a Day and Brooch a Week" 2013 Challenge has begun. Etsy Metal artists and various flickr artist from all over the world have joined the challenge to make brooches daily and weekly for the entire year. You can check out all the amazing work at the BAD flickr group for the daily brooches and
the BAW flickr group for the weekly brooches.
I have decided to join the Brooch a Week Challenge and I must say I am quite excited. I like participating in different challenges because they always push me out of my comfort zone, and that's when I usually learn some new metal smith technique. I can't promise I will make it to the end of the year, but I will most definitely try my best. So here we go, this is brooch number 1
For this brooch I used red brass for the domed disc, copper for the backing and fibula, and just a few extra touches of sterling silver.

|3 Spheres Brooch|
Before making this brooch I also started a little series of jewelry pieces called "3 Spheres". So far I have only made a ring and pendant but hope to add more to this series. Each piece has three spheres, one sterling silver, one brass, and one copper. I thought it was a perfect idea to make the first brooch also part of the jewelry series which I hope to add many pieces too.
