Out and About

I am pretty much settled in now at my parents house. Working on some orders and trying to get ready for some craft fairs in the area. I must say I thought it was going to be easy working out of my mother's studio since she has many of the tools I dream of having. However it was harder than I thought working in a different studio. Hopefully I will have some new pieces soon and will most definitely share some photos.

Today however I decided to finally get out and check out the sites like a real tourist. Other family members have arrived from other parts of the States and we went down to one of my favorite little towns, Woods Hole. This is where the ferries leave for Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, I love the harbor and all the little shops and great food places.

Love looking at all the beautiful boats in the harbor and if you are ever come  here I highly recommend "Pie in the Sky" yummy!

The beaches are just stunning.

Finally got my feet wet in the Atlantic, hopefully their will be some beach days soon.........

There is also a cute little aquarium in Woods Hole which my nephews are always happy to go see.

Today is also the day of the big birthday party. We all live very far apart from one another, some in California, some in Vermont, here on the Cape, and me all the way over in Italy. Therefore we rarely see each other on our birthdays, so when we do get together we have a big birthday party and exchange gifts.  Here is the pre cake mess, the cakes came out a little crooked but we decided it is the taste that counts. Of course we had to make two. This is my grandmothers recipe that was given to her shortly after she was married. Her neighbor brought the cake over to welcome my grandmother  to the neighborhood and it is so yummy that we have been making it ever since for everyones birthday. Here is the recipe, I hope you will give it a try, it is totally worth it.

1 c. sugar
1 c. br. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. sour cream
2 cups flour

1 tsp. vanilla

Mix shortening and sugar (white first)
