Well it is that time of month again where etsy metal members write about a common topic. This months topic is " What business have you started?" I guess it is obvious, that would be my jewelry making. I can't say it is an official business yet, but it is in the process of becoming a official business. I think we all know how hard and long it takes to start a business, it is a continuous learning process. I am always learning how to make the jewelry or how to get it out there to be seen. I also consider myself very lucky that I have the time to dedicate to this ongoing and never ending project.
Right now while I am here on the Cape I am trying to take advantage of my mothers studio and learn some new techniques. I have been experimenting with the rolling mill, I dream of having a rolling mill!! Hopefully next Christmas Santa will put one under my tree! Here are some photos of trials I have been doing with the rolling mill and I'm also having a lot of fun with it.
Here I used a paper punch in the shape of an oak leaf to create the leaf texture. I glued some of the leaves to a piece of thick brass sheet and annealed the copper sheet and passed them through the rolling mill.
Here I just used some zig zag paper to texture the band of the ring, can't wait to set the stone!!
Here I used some lace to texture the flat copper strip, I just thought that was to cool. As you can see starting a business and keeping it going never ends but it is also very fun especially if you are making jewelry!
